Character: Kate Bishop aka Hawkeye
Canon: Hawkeye (D+ series), taken from the end of the series
Age: 22
Background Information: A girl, a dream, and a Pizza Dog.
Personality: Years after the Avengers first assembled, legions of fans have risen to support their favorite heroes, some of them taking their love to the next level by becoming heroes themselves. Like many others, Kate Bishop's life was changed the day New York City was under attack, with Loki's army crumbling buildings and killing thousands of people. Kate's father was one of those casualties but she and her mom were saved by a man with no powers — just a bow and arrow. The sight and the act changed her life forever, leading to Kate vowing to be her family's protector at her father's funeral.
While many hero origins start with the death of a loved one, Kate Bishop (aka Hawkeye) simply refuses to be a gruff, reclusive type.
Chatty, and intelligent with a bit of a do-gooder complex, Kate is a staunch Hawkeye fangirl who had taken up archery and martial arts because of him. She has a strong moral compass, dedicated to (almost singlemindedly) doing what she believes is right. Her recklessness sometimes gets the better of her, putting her in sticky situations she can't quite talk herself out of, such as her attempts to spy and go undercover at an underground auction for the very rich, only to put a target on her back and accidentally lead the enemy to her apartment. Having grown up privileged with her parents running a security firm in New York City, she tries using her resources for good.
While Kate is optimistic and recklessly brave almost to a fault ("your ridiculous overconfidence" according to Clint Barton), she is still clever and street smart, able to protect the people (and animals) she cares about as well as keeping herself mostly out of trouble. Kate's loyalty to the people she loves and admires might cloud her judgment at times, but it's also a sign that she tries to see the good in others. For example, she remains a devoted fan and friend of Clint after learning he was the ruthless vigilante Ronin. Having turned to heroism to process the trauma of losing her own father, she understands how difficult it is to lose one's family. It also came as a shock to discover that her family was able to repay their debts due to her mother's collaboration with the crime lord, Wilson Fisk.
Kate is quite young and will perhaps grow to be part of the new generation of heroes to take the place of the Avengers since their disbandment. She is still a touch naive and has a great deal to learn about the world, having been more or less protected by the cushion of her family's wealth, but she is ready to rise to any challenge that waits for her.
Abilities & Inventory: All canon abilities can be found here. Kate is a standard and talented human being (albeit an overachieving one) who does not possess any superpowers of her own. Potentially, if she were to develop any powers, I'd like it to have to do with enhancing any of her existing abilities in terms of marksmanship or martial arts.
Kate will come with her recurve bow, her quiver and some self-engineered trick arrows, but will not have her Hawkeye suit as she will be in civvies when she arrives.
Suitability & Plans: Kate is someone beginning to fit into her superhero shoes. While she will be worried about unfinished business at home, if accepted, she will be interested in spreading her new wings as a Hawkeye. She is endlessly curious and has a habit of sticking her nose into things, which will make her fun and easy to interact with. Given the new and unusual setting, there are many buttons Kate will want to push, especially since she is a hero who has yet to visit far-off realms. Kate's acceptance of Clint Barton's Ronin past plus her familial struggles are other interesting facets I'd like to explore - how much is she willing to forgive? Can you always draw clear lines between good and evil?
Ultimately, I also just want her to make friends and develop protective attachments to others while perhaps developing an in-game found family if she's able to make a deeper connection with other people here. While I do have ideas for what I'd like for Kate to explore and build in the game, I prefer to make plans based on the connections she will make in a new setting.
